As an artist I go about the process of making art like a Jazz musician improvising notes during a jazz session. I respond to the repurposed materials collected from my day-to-day journeys of gathering selective discards off the street, yard sales and secondhand stores. The composing of these gathered items along with my ongoing research creates an environment conducive for creativity. There is a saying that my grandmother and my elder relative would always say to me growing up and I finally fully understand them now after all these years! They would say, "Son you just have to make do with what you have until you or we can do better!" With this saying in mind I decided three years ago to try to go green with my artmaking and it is the recycling, up-cycling or repurposing of discarded objects that is my solution to going green and the answer to my elders wisdom!
