Teach 3-dimensional design concepts along with sculpture techniques and methods. Also, three craft design and theory courses.

                  Position: Art Therapist

Teach therapeutic art activities to the developmentally disabled and mentally retarded. I also arranged recreational activities outside the classroom situation.   

 

1990 – 1991       Orange County Community College (part-time)

                  Position: Art Instructor in Drawing

Teach introductory drawing emphasizing techniques, compositional arrangements, tool and material usage. We discuss contemporary art issues and how to look at art works from a historical standpoint.

                  Position: Handi-Craft Instructor

Teach woodwork technique and safety. I developed and implemented art & craft projects based on interest and complexity of the class. Because of the type of inmate population I have, I must keep and maintain an atmosphere conducive for learning and exploration.

 

1986 – 1987       Argos Sculpture Foundry

                  Position: Chaser

Duties as chaser entailed grinding and polishing away excess metal from the casting process to a finished product. My job entailed: welding, chasing and the fabrication of metal for difficult casting jobs. I also helped with installation of sculptures into the final foundation setting.

                  Position: Art Teacher

Taught: Painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and art appreciation to 9th graders. Planned and implemented art projects based on the complexity of each class.            

 

STUDY ABROAD

1985        Independent Study in Europe: France/Holland/Belgium Research; The main purpose for this experience came out of the need to investigate and to learn more about other cultures. I’m particularly interested in experiencing the way artists live and survive in Europe. I also visited galleries and museums with other artists. I completed art work while studying at the Paris Academy.

 

1981        Independent Study in Africa:  The Gambia/Senegal/Mali Study Abroad: The purpose for this study was to enlighten myself on Africa and to explore African motifs. My work at the time reflected the forms and symbols of Africa art and artifacts.
